As part of their ongoing efforts to collaborate with health plans and strengthen the company’s positioning in the national movement towards a pay-for-performance environment, Genoa announced the addition of the seasoned executive today. Guptail comes to Genoa with extensive experience in the healthcare industry, his most recent tenure as President – West Region, Complex Care Management for OptumCare. “His expertise in navigating innovative partnerships, managing evolving regulations and creating unique care models, particularly with complex and high-risk populations, will strengthen Genoa’s position at the forefront of the industry,” said Mark Peterson, Genoa’s Chief Commercial Officer. During his tenure at UHC and Optum, Guptail served in a variety of leadership positions, including national roles in clinical operations and product leadership. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer and Plan President of UnitedHealthcare Community and State in Hawaii from 2009–2013. Genoa is the nation’s leading pharmacy and telepsychiatry provider focused in the behavioral health community. Added Peterson, “Our proven ability to impact outcomes, including industry-leading medication adherence rates and reduced costs is an important and compelling story to tell, and Bill will help us engage payors in a more meaningful way.” Guptail’s role in Payor Relations will include oversight of the company’s navigation of the ever-changing landscape across Medicare, Medicaid and commercial health plans.
