Following the mission: Pharmacist Terry moved to Genoa to make an impact

For Terence “Terry” Collins, RPh, trying new things is a part of everyday life. Whether it's teaching himself autobody work after his son's minor car accident or maintaining a pristine yard without hiring a landscaping company, Terry is a true do-it-yourself kind of person. Recently, he even took up jiu-jitsu, a martial arts practice, to spend more time with his sons and learn alongside them.

Terry's growth mentality has always driven him to explore new paths. In college, it led him from studying chemical engineering to pursuing a career in pharmacy, a field that piqued his interest and allowed him to make a meaningful impact on others.

After spending most of his career in retail pharmacy, Terry wanted a change. He wanted to be part of a team that shared his passion for making genuine connections with the consumers they served. That mission brought him to Genoa Healthcare, where he now leads a pharmacy team specializing in behavioral and mental health care.

For many, taking on a new type of pharmacy would be challenging enough, but Terry's desire to do more led him to precept pharmacy students.

“I feel like I have something to share with them and am giving back to a group of people that I was once a part of,” Terry says. “I want to pay it forward by influencing, mentoring, impacting and coaching others. It’s my duty to continue to move the field forward by giving someone else the opportunity to see what a pharmacy like Genoa is all about.”

The difference at Genoa, Terry says, is building relationships and collaborating with providers, all in the best interest of consumers.

“Genoa is a client-focused pharmacy where I can say we genuinely do our best to look out for every single consumer,” he reflects.

While taking care of consumers is his profession, it's also the heart of Genoa's mission – one that aligns perfectly with his passion for learning and committing to new things.

“When I get to share the work of helping someone with the doctors, my team, and our interns, it feels like we’re all in a shared mission together,” he says. “And we get to see the impact we all make for real people.”
