Last month, the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) awarded Genoa Healthcare as a 2024 Top Performer in Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation.
The recognition honors URAC-accredited organizations that effectively use performance measurement to improve the health and well-being of the people they serve.
“URAC is among the most respected names in health care accreditation,” said Sarah Mallak, Genoa’s Director of Clinical Pharmacy Practice & Accreditation. “This award demonstrates just how committed our teams are to providing quality care to the people we partner with and serve.”
Genoa has specialized in caring for people who live with behavioral health and other complex conditions for over 20 years. Most of our pharmacies are located directly within the clinic where consumers receive their care. This unique setting enables team members to meet consumers where they are, so it’s easier for them to get – and stay on – their medications.
This convenience – coupled with services, like Genoa CARE Packaging™ pre-filled pill organizers, medication adherence calls and free medication mailing – drives improved health outcomes for consumers.
Genoa first achieved URAC Specialty Pharmacy accreditation in 2022 and received reaccreditation for select pharmacies earlier this year. To earn full accreditation, pharmacies are evaluated on:
- Risk management
- Operations and infrastructure
- Performance monitoring and improvement
- Consumer protection and empowerment
- Pharmacy operations
- Medication distribution
- Patient service and communication
- Patient management standards
To qualify for the 2024 Top Performer award, Genoa was required to obtain URAC accreditation, maintain full accreditation status, and have our submitted performance measure rates validated by a URAC-approved vendor.
“We couldn’t have received this recognition without the dedication of our clinical and pharmacy teams,” said Sarah. “The people we serve have unique needs and barriers to care and deserve to have a pharmacy they can count on.”
