For Pharmacist Linh, self-care fuels her ability to care for others

If you saw Linh Nguyen at a studio teaching yoga on a weekend in Portland, Maine, you may not realize that her weekday 9-5 looks much different.

“I love to see people more relaxed mentally and physically after a yoga session,” Linh says. “I release all my stress through movement, and the practice gives me the opportunity to find balance outside of work. I love seeing the people I teach gain that balance, too.”

Beyond yoga, Linh finds solace in the outdoors. An avid fan of kayaking, hiking and gardening, she believes that being active outdoors is an important foundation for health.

“Being outside is one of the best medicines,” says Linh. “To just go outside and unplug is really important, especially in today’s times.”

Linh works as a pharmacist at Genoa Healthcare Monday through Friday. As a drug clerk in high school, Linh saw the impact a pharmacist can have on people’s lives firsthand – and ever since then, she’s taken that impact to heart. She went on to pursue a career in pharmacy, driven by a desire to help others and lead a team that makes a difference.

Whether she’s teaching yoga or working behind the pharmacy counter, Portland, Maine Genoa pharmacist Linh believes life’s about balance and making a difference.

Today, Linh leads Genoa’s Portland, Maine pharmacy team, where she collaborates with clinic staff to ensure the people they serve can get and stay on their medications.

"I work with the best technicians I could hope for, and together we make a difference in someone's day, every day," Linh says. “At Genoa, I get to offer services like LAIs (long-acting injectables) and medication packaging choices that offer people more treatment support.”

For Linh, life is about balance – and she wants to be a piece of that balance for the consumers she serves at Genoa. The right treatment plan promotes sustainable, positive outcomes, and she knows that as a pharmacist, the way she listens to and treats people matters.

“I want to show up to work each day ready to lead with empathy and compassion so that people feel like they can be more open with themselves – and with me,” says Linh. “We can only get better if we become more open rather than closed off and disconnected within ourselves and each other.”

And for Linh, that openness starts by showing up for herself outside of work, investing time and energy in the ways she knows fill her cup and having that translate over to her consumers.
