Genoa’s 2025 Art Celebration: Consumers share their stories through art

July 8, 2025 | 5-minute read

The Genoa Healthcare 2025 Art Celebration, which celebrates the people we serve, their talents and the healing power of art, has received submissions from over 200 Genoa consumers across the U.S. In each submission, consumers share their original artwork, describe their piece and reflect on how they feel while creating art.

Consumers submitted over 1,600 pieces in 2024. Select pieces from this year’s celebration, open now through July 31, 2025, will be featured on our website, social media, annual wall calendar and more.

Personal experiences with creating art

Many 2025 Art Celebration participants have shared the positive effect creating art has on their mental health.

Sierra K. of Tennessee began creating art to help her cope during the low points of living with a mental health condition.

“Creating art gives me a chance to express myself. Whether I am happy or sad, I always turn out feeling proud after I finish an art piece,” she said. “I am an artist, and I would love to teach other people who suffer with mental illness to express themselves through art as well.”

“Painting has benefitted my mental health and wellbeing,” said David S. of Massachusetts. “I enjoy the sense of accomplishment it gives me and the satisfaction that comes with completing a new piece of art.”

For artist Amber H. of Virginia, creating art is a calming and therapeutic experience.

“Art allows me to slow down, focus and disconnect from the pressures of everyday life,” she said. “The process becomes a quiet escape — a space where I can relax, reflect, and simply enjoy the act of creating.”

The 2025 Art Celebration is open for submissions until July 31! Artwork can be submitted here.
